My friend, Karim jaan is at least 2 years younger than Ahmad Wali. I know them for a long time as Karim was my classmate and friend for 4 years at Kabul Uni. No doubt he is an excellent and outstanding compositor. However, on this occasion, the CD lable itself gives credit to Ahmad Wali.

Ustaad or no ustaad he sings way better than any ustaads. He is the pride of Afghan music!

Also, this is b/c of Ahmad Wali that most ppl get introduced to u. Sarhang's songs. We should thank him for keeping our music alive. Unfortunately, we are real Afghans and are too proud to apppreciate anyone till the person no longer is among us and at that point we decide to worship our deads!

@afgmumtazfan - With all due respect to U. Sarhang, Ahmad Wali's voice gives the songs so much passion and sensation that no one including U. Sarhang can sing like him. It is a fact that U. Sarhang knew alot and was an ustaad but that does not mean that he had a great voice. You cannot even compare his voice to that of Ahmad Wali. To let you knoe my friend, Ahmad Wali was not even 16 yrs old when he sang in Arag in front of U. Sarahang when ustaad hugged him and asked him to sing a song w/ him.

@afgmumtazfan Ustad Sarahang is Ustaad Sarahang. He was The Classical Singer in Afghanistan. There is absolutely no doubt about that. But my friend we are talking about "Jan-e-Kharabaat" song which is of Ustaad but is not a classical song. At least any singer that I know in Afghanistan have tried to sing that song but I found Ahmad Wali's version more passionate, more melodious and better sounding. I love Ustaad Sarahang's songs even more after Ahmad Wali sung them like "Imrooz nawbahar ast".
