Power transformer fire

The morning after I bought my video camera, the power transformer down the road burst out in flames. The ideal subject for trying out all the buttons on the camera... As a result there's a lot of zooming, shake, etc. Eventually the tree caught fire and lost some branches, but the fire brigade managed to keep the fire under control, so no-one was hurt in the making of this video.

I would not be surprised if you measure the voltage with a copper probe stuck in the dirt and you get a reading of a couple dozen volts

Wow. Quite amazing this all happened on the day you bought a camera. There is one problem though about filming that sort of thing. People may think you started it and you're filming it because you're excited. Well, that probably never happens in New Zealand, but it does happen here in North America. I am not saying you were responsible for this thing, (which I know you're not) just take care when you're in a different country.

A couple of advises here: 1. Don't zoom in too quick. It will make you loose the subject of interest very easy. 2. Don't be afraid to keep filming a bit longer than a couple of seconds per shot. 3. Even though some people have troubles with it, have one eye on the target while the other eye is on the camera (when you don't have a flip open screen that is.

I'm surprised that no one knocked on the door of the house whose lawn the transformer was in (get out, move your car, etc.) while it was smoking?
