2nd in a series of obscure and strange 45 singles. This one peaked at #40 on the Billboard Hot 100 in May of 1958. Even though it was an instrumental, it was the follow up to the more successful "Click Clack" that peaked at #28 earlier that same year. Gerry Granahan was the lead singer. • I was 13 or 14 when this came out. My dad went absolutely ape when my friend brought this over during a slumber party. "That is complete and utter trash! I forbid you to listen to that nonsense when I'm home!!!" My girlfriends had a good private laugh at my father screaming the part about "complete and utter trash". It became a private joke among my friends. For years, my friends would mockingly label various things "complete & utter trash".

Dad is probably rolling over in his grave.

  • LOL "complete & utter trash" that everyone seems to remember... Thanks for sharing

  • @tamspeci The reason why the needle seems to sway back and forth is because the center hole in this copy of the 45 is slightly off center. You can correct for that by carefully hand-centering the 45 without a center hole adapter and playing the 45 that way.

  • My father had a general term for rock and roll he would often use. He called

it "ignorant music for ignorant people". This is a pretty good band track, with studio musicians.

  • I had no idea that someone did this song before Bad Manners. This version is great. No wonder Bad Manners covered it.

  • @beagle5pup That is funny dude

  • If the old DeLorean from Back to the future were real I sure would love to visit this era. Although I did not grow up in this era I sure do love the music from it. I heard this gem for the first time on Sirius Xm 50s on 5 channel they other day and wanted to hear it again. So in short thanks for sharing

  • Best bit ....the lyrics

Music is supposed to be fun ...and this is FUN

  • clasic song omg

I see, now! Thank you VERY much for clarifying! I DO like this song! I remember browsing an antique store, & seeing this song on a jukebox. Fortunately, they had it set for "FREE", so we could see the workings of the jukebox. THIS was the song I chose.

  • @stevenscottoddballz Yes the needle should be on one straight path but you obviously didn't grow up seeing many vinyl records in action. Vinyl records weren't always made perfectly, especially 45's. I used to have many 45's like that.

  • Haha. I remember when me and my friend found this in his mother's record collection, and we played the beginning over and over again. we completely pissed ourselves laughing every time and neither of us could ever keep a straight face XD (I was 5 and he was 7)
