Yes, the Three Gorges Dam is going to displace thousands of people. However, it's not just for the economic benefits. Every decade, the Yangtze floods dramatically and millions are affected. The last time it flooded, 300 million people were displaced - approximately the population of the entire United States.

actually the three gorges dam has all long been a idea for Chinese leaders since Sun Yat-sen. Mao wanted to build it in order for China to harness the energy from the Yangtze and to control the tides of it.. but the project is a conspiracy itself because it displaced thousands of inhabitants around the area and of course certain species of animals are endangered.. but still it is huge and a wonder

The Three Gorges Dam displaced 300 million people, the exact same number of archeologists that cried when it was finished.

IT DID.

I know the Three Gorge Dam might displace people and destroy archeological sites, but keep in mind the floods of the Yangtze sometime kill people and displace them anyway, it's a small price to pay I think. Beside, China got the biggest population in the world, they could use the extra CLEAN energy instead of burning up coal and polluting the planet.

it is also healthies that coal plants. good wonder. but it takes 2 great generals to build it fast enough

@GFedFan theres like 1.1 billion chinks...

@Nikifuj908 They're building docks and ports on the cities that are gonna find themselves next to the riverbank once it floods. Besides, trade around the Yangtze has existed from before the dam.
such an expensive wonder =(

@xridethelightningx
Yes it is (in both real life and in the game). But it is justified since it provides a lot of energy. In the game if your entire country is on the same continent you will get a huge production bonus and won't need to build power plants anymore.
