In February, our local partner -- China Times Publishing - promoted the best selling book, 'The King's Speech, How One Man Saved the British Monarchy' which tells the inspiring story of King George VI and his excellent speech before World War II. To coincide with this, an English speech contest for local senior high school students was organised by the British Council, Taipei, and the local Education Authority on Sunday 13 February. The purpose was to encourage local students to practise their English speaking skills while taking the valuable opportunity to introduce them King George VI and the British Monarchy.
