Eshan's First Steps After Amputation

Two months after below knee amputation of his right leg, Eshan goes to hospital to get a new leg. He is familiar with the doctors and knows that he is getting a new leg which will help him become free. He is very excited and can't wait to stand on his legs. At an age of 20 months he is doing great with the concept of prosthetic.

I'm so excited with your son!! because now my daughter just born and she's fibular hemimelia condition also. Can i ask you that how old is he when he make a first time amputation because a docter in thailand told me to wait. Now she's 2 month already.. I see your son, your son make me feel better a lot because he walk so fine. he look so same with other people. I want my daughter can walk like your son T-T.. please answer my question.. Hi, I can understand how difficult it must be for you in this situation. Please believe that your daughter will walk and run like all others in time.

Eshan is 4 yrs old now and does biking, hiking, running, jumping from stairs and much more with his prosthetic. His amputation happened when he was 18 months old. Doctor said that it is ideal to have it done between 12-18 months of age because children lose the memory of operation very quickly during this period.

Adjustments to prosthetic have to be made every month by the specialist. Each prosthetic lasts for no more than a year, sometimes less.
