A revolution has occurred in tactical lighting products. If you thought or still think the Maglite is the best flashlight made, or even a SureFire, Blackhawk, or Pentagon light (all good but way $$$), you are way behind the times dude. Things have changed: there some amazingly high-value, high quality flashlights in nowadays that could re-define what you think a flashlight can do. And this revolution will probably continue to evolve and improve as time goes on with even different brands vying for the "best light" title. These days lighting technology is akin to computer technology, with new generations quickly outpacing and obsolescing older technology. But fret not and dont think you have to wait for even better lights. Thats because right now the Fenix brand is producing amazingly capable lights for around $50. Nowadays the Fenix company is offering overseas-produced, ultra-high quality CREE-brand LED lights with amazing output and duration. Moreover these lights are digitally regulated to ensure consistent output despite a varying output battery, theyre lightweight, waterproof, tough, and have a host various output modes. In the Fenix P3DQ model, you can select from multiple brightness levels uses the rear mounted switch and a slight rotation of the bezels. A bright strobe mode is included (shown in the video). In this night time demo in the quiet desert, I pit the P3D against the Surefire E2D and the Streamlight TL2. The P3D pretty much owned the others. **** Look for Nutnfancys table top reviews of these excellent lights in the future which will include his Philosophy of Use (PoU). Fenix lights were purchased from Yourcornerstore.com (excellent source) for around $50 each.

(Sorry for the pixelation on the video...I was on my backup camera...it's this or nothing)

  • What makes a flashlight tactical? I have a 6D mag light I can tactically beat someone up with, does that count? Or does it have to cost as much as a gun?

  • Ok here's my take on surefire vs fenix lights-when it comes to overall quality and value and bells and whistles ,surefire can't even touch FENIX (example) if you own a surefire 6p LED with a 80 lumen head, you can buy a 120 lumen head for about $90.00 give or take a lil,and for that kind of money you could buy a whole FENIX flashlight with 3 or 4 modes of brightness ,strobe, sos ETC... and MOST FENIX lights blow away surefire in terms of brightness for the money period!!

  • @jimmyhoffa9 Exactly, the surfire is the rickshaw and it costs 3-4 times as much. ;)

  • @egt22cc glad you got it right after the third try... maybe lose a little weight, that way all your fingers wont hit the keyboard at the same time...

  • @jimmyhoffa9 lol i have an eagletac t20c2 markii xml 720 lumen, when i strobe anyonein broad daylight they can do nothing but look away, i actually love maglites, but not the incandescents those are..just completely junk. but get the 2d led mag at walmart for 30 bucks its only 130lumens er so but its certainly more than 5 times brighter than any of the incandescents. Those are plenty bright for the normal flashlight person but nowhere near the t20c2 or most tac lights for that matter.

  • Biased show and tell, to be honest, the surefire didnt have the LED module, so it was like comparing a rickshaw to a sports car in terms of performance.

  • @AceNizzle what are tactical settings? strobe? tehehe, try strobe yourself, it doesnt work. the problem is you cant buy a fenix light in walmart, and you cant beat the crap out of someone with it. weight is only an issue if you're lugging it around. fenix makes nice lights but maglite aren't obsolete by a long shot :P

  • @MonsterslookingatMe about 2-3x times the price, definitely worth it. but check of malkoff devices p60 drop ins, they will fit in most surefires (including e2d) and are much cheaper and use a variety of LED's etc, different variation of modes, single modes etc.

  • Be nice people. We don't need to freak out just because somebody don't know something. I've been a Maglite guy for years. Today that's just not so. The reason for that is these new lights a wicked! If you want a baton... get a baton! Not a flashlight! 100, 200,300, heck 500 or 700 lumen! WOW! If you need lots of light you can now have it. Totaly worth $100 or $150 when you need it and these lights last like 50,000 to 100,000 hours. Keep spreading the good work Nutn. Thanks form OR.

  • @RandysRanch yea a 25 dollar sears led is JUNK and not even close to 150 lumens you obviously know nothing about flashlights, secondly 6d mag is nowhere near 233 lumens 6D Maglite® 162.6 lumens. thats the most they come with...and pelicans quality is terrible, they have such good throw because there beam pattern is like a fucking laser pointer...so you have fun with your pos laser pointer, spend as much on batterys as you do on the whole flashlight AND upgrade get outa here noob
