God Bless with Navicula

When most bands say things like, "We got to play with the Rolling Stones", (or some other legendary rock band), what they usually mean is that they got to open for the Rolling Stones. Well at this year's djakarta artmosphere, at the Kartika Expo Center, in Jakarta, on November 20th, Navicula is playing WITH Indonesia's own Rolling Stones, known as God Bless. And this is no opening act, but a collaboration between Indonesia's most legendary rock band, God Bless, and the country's premier grunge band, Navicula.
God Bless is not only Indonesia's most legendary rock band, but also one of the very first. They started out in 1973, in a country steeped in tradition. At that time, rock and roll was not only unheard of, but unappreciated, to say the very least. They met with much resistance back in those days, yet here they are almost 40 yrs, and God Bless is still rocking hard. Complete with all its original members.
No stranger to fame themselves, the members of Navicula have also been rocking out to God Bless since they where in elementary school. They where so influenced by the band, that Robi, (Navicula's lead vocalist), told me, "If it wasn't for God Bless, I would not be the rocker I am today". "It's like being in a dream", he said after yesterday's rehearsal with the band. To say they are honored to be playing with them, is putting it very mildly.
On a more personal note, I too feel very honored; to have been invited to be a part of this historical music event. I would like to thank Navicula, God Bless and the organizers of djakarta artmosphere, for making it possible for me to do so. You all rock in my book.
