Seth Lover's original design was never actually produced by Gibson, they modified the design to something he did not really approve of.

I always wanted to make one of these just to hear what it sounded like, and after making one I really like it in my Ibanez Archtop neck position.

In the video you can see the original working prototype set installed in a Les Paul Gold Top with plain nickel silver covers. I can make these for you as solid tops that will fit any humbucker guitar or as the patent prototype was, with stamped fake poles, set in a dog ear P90 cover. The dog ear version won't actually fit a P90 rout unless widened slightly; it will fit a humbucker routed guitars but you'll have to add 2 screw holes to hold the mounting tabs to the guitar. This version has 2 adjustment screws in the dog ear cover.

I don't really care if I ever sell a single one of these, it was a fun project to do, is wound to the same specs as the original, I do a single or a full set. Email or message me with any questions,
Thanks!

  • alright you have a mic on the amp now. Now I can really hear the authentic tone you recreate.. Sounds awsome.

  • @rene495 Well, mic'ing the amp you lose some treble that you hear if you're in the room, so its good that you can really hear them well, but the mics (SM5 and a vocal mic) do trim some treble response. Its a fun pickup to play, maybe eventually will do a bridge to match and put it in a Les Paul ;-)

  • Wow Dave, they sound amazing! Very similar to the P90s, by they have their own character. and great guitar too! is this the first time you're demoing your pickups with this guitar?

    Cheers,

    Matt

  • @EnragedSlash Thanks, yes this is the first time I've used that guitar. It still has the stock wiring harness in it, I really should change the whole harness out but with this bright pickup it really cuts through all that pretty well. It probably has chiclet ceramic .047uf tone caps in it I bet. I just have too many guitars that need rewiring and no time to do it. This is the guitar you hear the Dirty Harry pickups in audio clip on my website. I'll put the neck back in and demo those next....
