  • @azamatbagatov tacos are not from panama you dumb

  • Man they do eat a lot of tacos in Panama.

  • @spinba11

If a ship rams a door, it can fall down 7 metres. Not good for the ship, not good for the locks. ;) It´s for safety. But if a ship is longer than 290 metres, only 1 gate close.

    Bad english, i know. ;-)

  • @bariejj The idea is if a SHIP hits one and perhaps knocks it slightly open... I seriously doubt the doors themselves will break. Keep in mind they are shaped like that so the pressure from the (higher) lake water naturally keeps the doors shut. If the motors were to fail they would remain shut.

If the locks did fail, all the water from the lake(s) would go pouring out into the oceans.

  • yeah i was wondering myself 2, spinba11.

Dont think its for safety.. if 1 "breaks" (impossible thought) the force of the falling water would "break" down the other 1 to...

  • incase one FAILS!

  • for safety i think dude

  • someone swam thru it for a toll of 16 cents once.

  • why 2 pairs of gates?

  • I watched this from the visitors center, I might have to do the transit
