More than 5 million Afghans have returned to their homeland since the fall of the Taliban regime in 2001. But growing insecurity threatens the gains the country has made since then. While the refugees have returned with high hopes, they have found that harsh realities await them.

  • Why should our fellow humans live like this while we have enough food and money to go around, the greed of human kind continues.

  • Small victories, but not much joy there.

    What a pity it seems that communal facilities aren't built first e.g. school, medical centre, ablutions block, market garden, water and energy supply (all environmentally sustainable of course!), and then the community has an anchor point around which all private title and work flows.

    Or am I just being a western interloper with no idea of how things really work?
