SC Wildfire Burns Homes, Moving to Tourist Spot

A coastal wildfire in the Myrtle Beach area spread toward one of the busiest tourist stretches in South Carolina, burning dozens of homes and forcing hundreds to flee in the middle of the night. No injuries were reported. (April 23)

The fire departments are equiped with no more than water and garden hoses against fires of this magnitude.

with a fleet of 747 size planes a fire like this can be put out in hours.

and if suposedly intelligent people stoped build junk disposable houses and build them fireproof and equipped in a way that they never have to leave them in any weather event, any little fire like this would never be an issue.

Wonder how long it will take the A-HOLE "sleeper cell terrorist" that are here in the USA to figure out they can just set a couple hundred fires at once in about any state during the dry windy summer months..... :(......scary

Most fires of this magnitude call for thousands of firefighters.

WBTW announced that there were 125 firefighters in crews of 2-3 in pickup trucks with water tanks. Not to say they didn't work hard but with the resources they had I don't see how anyone could have expected different results.

Its amazing that it took 8000 acres to burn before the National Guard was called. Had the winds been different it would have decimated the 12000 homes in Carolina Forest. This state needs to wake up.

they say that regular citizens cant help put out fires. But what why not get the sprinklers out put on your house put them in the yard put them acrossed the road if everyone helps you can get these fires under control

first build fireproof homes what is easy and as cheap as the junk everyone settles for and second get a fleet of 747 size water tankers and extinguish any fire in minutes ..

fire departments are a joke and amount to buckets and garden hoses,maybe they should be called fire watching department.........
