@TrueSplash my jack dempsey, convict, and clown barbs (barbs not loaches, they are four inches long full grown, very fast and my cichlids are the only fish they haven't killed) survived two moves in a very short amount of time (we had to fumigate the house). Depending on the cichlid they can be very adaptable. As to how aggressive they are, that really depends on both the species and individual, but giving them more space than you think they would need is probably the best solution.
-
are they hard to keep how aggressive are the chichlids im thinking of getting 2
-
Maybe...Clown loaches get 12in+, you'll need a very large tank, other loaches maybe, maybe not, and I'd say no Kuhli loaches... too small, they'll get eaten. Also be aware that most loaches like softer, acidic or at least neutral water (ph ~7 and below), where as cichlids like hard alkaline water (ph ~8.2). Loaches may be able to slowly adapt to harder water though. I've got 8 loaches, 4 different kinds, in another tank (no cichlids w/ them). They're interesting fish for sure.

ok ty so how about loaches?
-
...sometimes its more of a trial and error thing, and hopefully you can return a fish that isn't working before its too late. Just try to research before you buy, and definitely no small non-aggressive fish with cichlids!

Well there is never a guarantee of any fish getting along, but as long as you don't mix a baby red tail shark with cichlids that are already large, you should be OK.
Every individual fish is different. Other fish depends on whats available to you. Check out some freshwater eels or rope fish, most catfish should be ok, I have a spotted pictus catfish with mine, and a Flying Fox. I've had needle fish with cichlids before, columbian sharks (will eventually need brackish water).
-
so i can get a red tailed shark? and what other fishes any thing else i can mix it with
-
Well a cichlid tank can't be a real "community" tank.... for instance guppies will be eaten very quickly! A red tail shark will most likely be fine, I've got a rainbow shark that is doing very well with my cichlids. It really depends on what cichlids you plan on keeping, but I wouldn't keep any small "community" type fish with them because they will definitely get eaten. Just look for other semi aggressive to aggressive fish that will get about the same size as the cichlids.
-
i want to make a community fish tank with cichild what can i mix it with? and can i mix it with red tailed shark and guppy or can you give me some other fish ill be able to mmix with
-
At 0:6 what Chiclid was that?
-
Ha, they're much much bigger now too! I've given a couple away to some friends and maybe gotten a few since then. They're also breeding like crazy! I have two sets of fry in the tank now, I will be posting a new video fairly soon when I get some time.
-
there no room for the fishyz to swim around its knda over croweded, but still its crazy bruh, keep it upp
-
dude that tank looks way over stocked >.>
-
Well that's really your decision. The yellows are fairly peaceful, I think the blues are a little more aggressive but not bad. Mine (I have 1 yellow 1 blue) are both pretty peaceful, but every fish is different. Its really a bit of trial and error. I think the yellows and blues together would look pretty cool though.
-
well i was thinking of getting some yellow electric and blue electric cichlids, but if you have a suggestion on what type of cichlids i should get... it will be welcomed!
-
Its a 55 gallon. I would say it would depend on which cichlids you're planning on getting. 20 gallons would probably be fine for some less aggressive cichlids but maybe not for the most aggressive ones. In my tank they've got plenty of room to "run away" and plenty of other fish that often "break up" fights before they get too serious between any two. What cichlids were you thinking about getting?
-
hey quick question " how many gal. is your aquarium?"..... not to critizise you or anything like most people do, just wondering cuz i have a 20 gal. but feel like it might be too small to throw in 4 cichlids, because they grow 4 to 6 inches each.
let me know i'll appreciate it
-
yeah they get along pretty good, the Ahli used to fight with the blue peacock quite a bit (they look very similar to each other) but I haven't seen the Ahli fight with anyone lately. The Blue Zebras (esp one of my Red Top Blue Zebras) are the most aggressive in my tank.

do the electric blue ahli get along with the peacocks?
whats the neme of the blue fish at 00:30

Which one? The darker metallic one on the left is a Electric Blue Ahli Cichlid, the lighter baby blue colored on on the right is a type of Blue Zebra Cichlid
