Hello, Noel Hill, a Concertina player from County Clare in Ireland made an album in 1988 called 'The Irish Concertina'
It's fantastic stuff which I've only just discovered. I can imagine it being a great influence on the current players of Irish on Harmonica...I can hear Brendan Power's playing in quite a few tunes.
So what I'm going to do is try to learn all of the tunes off the album to get more understanding of the Music and how it translates to the Harmonica, particularly in Chording style playing.
This is the 4th set of tunes, called Kiss the Maid Behind the Barrel followed by the Dublin Reels. I am trying to master each part consecutively and will slowly build up my knowledge of the whole tune till I can play both parts.
Just thought it might be interesting to any other budding chord style players.
Thanks for looking and listening

  • Cheers Maz....and that was only the 1st part of a 4-part tune! Nearly got the reat down, will put it up when I have.

    Joel.

  • well thank YOU!

it's so cool watching you making your way through all those complex slaps, reminds me of the fact that nothing comes easy, even for such excellent players as you are!

    Thanks!
