1kHz laser detection using a solar cell with no optical filtering in direct sunlight. We are using a bandpass filter at 1kHz to filter out the unwanted frequencies. The red LEDs turn on when it detects the laser and turns off when it doesn't.

  • This is actually a very early version of the laser detector system which was all that reliable. We have since added a differencing filter /w PLL which gives us a much better SNR and fewer false positives. The new version has been put in a PCB and scaled up to a large 4 x 4 grid which feeds a PIC32 which relays wireless data to our base station with a GUI showing which solar square has detected a Hit. We should have some pictures up soon on our website csufuav.com
