Lee Jackson from the band Judge Jackson provides some tips and tricks on playing the Dobro guitar. Slide Guitar lesson using his 1940 vintage dobro guitar.
Dobro is a name brand, but associated with any reso guitar. He is playing an actual dobro "brand". Now Dobro is very closely assosciated with lap reso's. Which in itself comes from the Hawaian guitar and these type of reso's have square necks. Always play squareneck with a slide/bar/steel with it lying in your lap and the round neck either way with either a slide or not.
@GodspeedingCar you cannot play a dobro with your bare fingers. you need something with which to slide it. a resonator is an acoustic guitar with aluminum resophonic cones inside of it to give it that loud, resonated (no shit) sound, which you absolutely can play without a slide, and your fingers alone.
dobro is a brand name, a contraction of "doperya brothers" and this is indeed a resophonic or resonator guitar, apparently made by them. the bridge sits on a cast aluminum "spider" across an aluminum cone or resonator.
Excellent*****....wonderful playing !!! Great sound!!!
