@lukassstyyy It's slow because he's doing a screen capture, obviously.

I have a question about vector imaging. I'm wanting to convert a bitmap image into a vector image such that I can send the design in to be laser engraved into something. Is this process you show here basically what I'm looking for?

If you want better performance get some linux OS, cause your windows looks very slow. Nice tutorial by the way.

fab and clear, thankyou for a great tutorial
very helpful! but you didn't explain what the "smooth" check box does. If i want a bitmap drawing to not look pixalated, and i want smooth lines, is that what you'd use it for?

@MrTomservo85
If smooth is selected then a Gaussian Blur will be applied to the bitmap before it is traced. This will smooth the image but a loss of detail can occur. You may want to experiment with smooth enabled and disabled to determine which works better for your particular image.
