花から花へ忙しく飛び回る同一個体を追いかけて撮影。
A paper wasp (Polistes chinensis, family Vespidae) visiting bushkiller flowers (Cayratia japonica, family Vitaceae) for nectar. Early-July, 2007 in Japan.

    as you may notice, she seemed frightened at an approaching small ant at 00:13.

    paper wasps paint black tar-like substance at the stem part of their nest to dispel predatory ants.

    that i recalled and thought maybe wasp dislike ants in general.
