This is a fully automatic reed harvesting machine made using only vanilla minecraft materials.
The machine uses a cactus bio clock that I recently discovered as a timer and a monostable circuit to ensure the pistons only receive a short pulse, allowing for maximum reed growing time between harvests!
With the cactus clock, the minimum time between piston pulses is 5 minutes, or the time it takes for an item to disappear
Long redstone timers use a good amount of redstone, so this is actually pretty cool. But...the cactus sometimes gets caught on itself instead of flowing to the pressure plate. I tested it a bit.
In a four hour test, the exact timer you're showing here activated 25 times (9.6 minutes), raising the cactus up one block increased it to 34 times (7 minutes). It's a great reed-farm timer.

@Suiseisexy Yeah there is always that chance, but for the purposes of the harvester it really didn't matter if some of the cactus items were destroyed by the below cactus piece. =D
