@ktownshutdown21 - My thought exactly. It just throws off the entire flow of the movie. Like "OH SHE COULD BE DEAD" and then "WELL HEY, MAYBE SHE'S IN LOVE WITH YOU?" Um.

Honestly, I think that no matter how ugly a person may be on the outside, it's what's on the inside that really counts. And I'm not just saying that. I would take a Quasimodo over a Prince Charming ANY day of the week. Because unlike a Prince Charming, Quasi's wonderful on the inside and would be kinder to the person he fell in love with than anyone else on the planet. :)

Also, I remember watching this as a youngster and thinking that the Gargoyle who eats the sausage was awesome because he ate it when it must've been reeeeally hot.

A lot of people really hate the gargoyles for spoiling the movie.
I think they're genius. They're the fun comedic bit of the movie for the kids, but as you grow older you can see the deeper meaning in them. Assuming this entire scene takes place in Quasi's imagination, this song shows how it can seem amazing when you're thinking someone's in love with you when the fact of the matter is, it's all in your head.
All this number really did was let Quasimodo down more when Esmeralda kissed Phoebus.
