George Galloway Speech, Al-Awda, 2009,04-06, Part 7

George Galloway describes the incredibly severe destruction and devastation in Gaza. He points out that if this destruction and devastation had been caused by an earthquake, all governments would be sending aid immediately to prevent starvation and help Palestinians rebuild. He criticizes Israel and Egypt for actually preventing aid that has already been sent from entering Gaza.

Galloway saw that the people in Gaza are literally starving, and every morning women and their daughters had to sort through heaps of garbage to try to find scraps of food for their families.

Since 80% of the Palestinians in Gaza (1.1 million people) are refugees from Israel's ethnic cleansing wars, the international community is legally obligated to ensure that they have food, but Israel is only allowing 62 trucks of aid per week to enter Gaza. Gaza needs 1750 trucks of aid per week to feed the refugees. The 20% of Palestinians who are not refugees have no food at all.

The most common thing Palestinians asked George Galloway was, "Where are the Arabs? Where are the Arabs?" "How come Egypt is starving us?"

Hospitals are operating in the dark by candlelight. Some of the hospitals have been destroyed. They need both generators and fuel. People are being operated on without anesthetic. The situation is catastrophic because of the siege that prevents aid from reaching the people in Gaza.

He saw a mosque with an orphanage that was destroyed not by one, but by seven missiles that were all made in the USA. Seven missiles targeting a mosque with an orphanage is not an accident.
