In his off-duty time, NASA Astronaut Don Pettit likes to explore scientific curiosities of his own design. Sometimes that means cutting his shirt up and playing the space station vacuum cleaner like a didgeridoo. Answer the challenge question at www.physicscentral.com/sots for a chance to have your name read from space!

somewhere on an alien craft:
"Sir we have come into contact with another civilization"
"quick, patch the transmission through"
*brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrRRRRRRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrRRRrrrRRRrrRRRRRRRRRRRR*
"what in space jesus's name was that?"
"i dont know sir, but i think we should avoid it"
and that is why we will never make contact with aliens

The larger volume of water adds more surface area for the water to distribute the reaction of the sound waves.

Well, interior of a house looks quite different than interior of a spacecraft... if you know what I mean. =)

Yeah, but they are spending months at a time where they can just let go of stuff in front of them and have it not fall. I bet you they drop their keys on the ground in front of them at least once. ;)
I imagine they get used to it pretty quick and don't forget they are back on earth, as it's kind of a stark change.. but maybe while they are sleepy.
Just my guess. :) I know I probably would. :)
