Thank you one more time Adam. If there is something new please let mi know.

    Always Tsetso

From the other side of the world.

  • Depending what kind of rainbowfish you talking about. This Melanotaenia australis the difference is the tail.

  • No they dont look pregnant. They lay eggs almost everyday so..But if they are in the tank with other fish, eggs dont have any chance.Thats wy theu have to be in separate tank.

  • I use to try that to.Thank you for the comment

  • new type of rainbow discovered last year. very rare. Upper Katherine River M. australis

  • @tonelow183 Males have all the colour. Females are generally drab and colourless

  • how can you tell , female from male ? i have australian rainbows.

  • my rainbowfish were spawning but i was wondering how the whole process works. does the female lay eggs right away. is she surposed to look "pregnant"?

  • Cool!!! We've got lots of Melanotaenia's too:

    M. boesemani - M. praecox - M. splendida inornata "Blyth River" - M. splendida inornata "Anniversary Creek" , the lots!

We always use spawning mops made from woolen theads instead of a wire gauze; it works like a charm!

Just take a bowl of wool, twist it round an round a piece of cartboard of about 10 cm. wide, cut in half and tie it all together with a string. put it between the plants in the aqua and voila! See your fry grow!
