  • Je souhaite qu'elle revienne, meme pour un instant, juste pour que je puisse lui dire combien je l'aime.

  • I think the key to understanding the lyrics may be the fact there is Italian movie with that name: Ciao, ciao, bambina (1959)

  • Ciao, ciao, Bambina, the rain is falling

Once more I kiss you and then goodbye

Our love was just like a fairy story

But all its glory must pass us by

Are raindrops trembling upon your face, dear

Or are they teardrops for the love we knew?.

Ciao, ciao, Bambina, my heart is calling

While rain is falling I cry with you

  • Violins played by the wind are crying Softly the silvery rain is sighing Slowly the flame of our love is dying It rains on our love, and we must part Ciao, ciao, Bambina, the rain is falling Once more I kiss you and then goodbye Our love was just like a fairy story But all its glory must pass us by Are raindrops trembling upon your face, dear Or are they teardrops for the love we knew? Ciao, ciao, Bambina, my heart is calling While rain is falling I cry with you.
  • Dalida was sitting in my lap on a trip to Tahiti fron Noumea, New Caledonia.she was travelling with Eric Tabarly and his crew..they were the most gentle smart and elegant people I had to honor to share some time with..She was NOT referring to her boyfriend on this particular song, but in general to the age gap between a imagine lover much younger than her...Got some interesting pictures of her also...That is in the summer of 1969.

  • - She's referrring to herself: "bambina" in Italian means girl, but the lyrics of the song (which are in French) say "si malheureuse quand il m'a dit Ciao bambina" or "so unhappy when he said to me 'goodbye my girl/love'". The song's all about a boy splitting up with his girlfriend.

  • Thanks, but still the primary question remains: is she referring to a girl friend or a boyfriend ?

  • "Bambina" can also be used as a term of endearment that a man would use to refer to his love. It is similar to saying "sweetheart" or "my love," but I think using the word "bambina" makes it more personal.

  • What "Bambina" means here ?

It is Italian word for a "girl", but that doesn't fit the song context..

  • Is it from a movie?
