@absentmindedprof I don't know. Most bats in my aria are suffering from this funguse. White nose I think it's called. And some people are know to net bats and kill them for there wings. That, and in China, bat wings are supose to give you strenth.

It would seem that bats are one of the endangered species that suffer from 'cute-ism'. Endangered species that are 'cute', such as Pandas, get more press covereage, more public concern, and more political action, and are therefore more likely to be actively protected. Sad!
