Watched the movie last night on BBC. Don't really know how true the film is, seems somewhat exaggerated at times but you can't deny the real Obree determination and ingenuity.

I was was kind of sad to learn he didn't like Mike Burrows' bike though, as Burrows would later design my bike, a Giant MCR.

As far as I know the film was pretty much true to life, aside from Hein Verbruggen's name being changed, and the bit about the '94 Worlds where Graeme crashes in the film. In reality Verbruggen stepped out onto the track and physically stopped him from riding!

Obree is/still is a pure champion, did things his way from scraps against all odds...competing against big money teams/riders and still kicked their ass. it's about basics, motivation & effort first, not money, computers, or wind tunnels. pure class with Phil Liggett commenting, nobody can fill Liggett's shoes. or Obree's.

I rI havent seen the film yet but Obree was the best him and boardman were the best brit and world cyclist at time.. cycling was huge back then I mean massive and obree to do what he did on hour record was amazing..I dont know if it says it in film but he kept waking himself up through night when going for hour rec again over night.. by drinking letres of water and waking up ev 2hours to massage legs so not stiff in m orn.. I rember all mags back then.. incredible stories how he trained

You all miss the point, read the UCI rules, the record is split into two sections,normal bikes like mosers, and streamlined bikes. And that is only fair, but all partisipants are pushing the boundaries, no one can doubt Obrees talent, guts,and sheer determination, be happy that the record, even now, is in the united kingdom.
