The stealthy F-15SE "Silent Eagle" fighter jet international export variant has been announced by Boeing. The plane incorporates a series of modest improvements - modest both in terms of the cost to the customer and the increases in stealth technology. The tails are canted like the F-22 Raptor, there are unspecified improvements in coatings, and new conformal fuel tanks allow for internal carriage of air-to-air and ground attack weapons. If they can do this for the F-15 Eagle, then maby they can do this to the F/A-18 Hornet and Super Hornet

With the cancellation of the F22 and the F35 running well over budget it is good to know that the SE can be diverted to fill the gaps. Wonder if they have any plans to do a major update on the Falcon?

@StiviGun1 ']
a better alternative would be f-35.

@cruxader27 Weve got a Silent Spitfire, in the design phase. Be VERY afraid!!

Seeing as the F22 program has been capped at 100 (ish) machines, due to the obvious flaws in the design. I`d be very worried if I were the US. No use bringing out a 6th generation fighter, if you cant get the 5th generation fighter to do the bizzo!
(Not saying the F15 SE is 6th generation, just addressing a "dont worry, the 6th generation will save us", remark elsewhere on these posts...) Eurofighter Typhoon is looking even better to me!

I love how he says it "may reduce radar signature" to radars. I love the F-15, however i do not think we should sell this to anyone. We will see what happens though.

Since we did not design the plane or see test results (let alone conduct the tests), all we can say is "may." That is responsible journalism, instead of paid advertising.

The U.S. needs these to replace the A and C models of the Eagle. This could be the aircraft replacement there wanting for the ANG, and then some.

Good point! They are slated for export only for now but once the line is open and they are being produced, you never know. Thanks for your comment!

wow..just made missiles interal. which is aactualy an improvement, but all in all this is one hell ove an deperate attempt to revive an aircraft long past its prime.
Im sure it was hard letting go of propellors back in the day. but it was a nessecity, this old aircraft too needs to be "let go" or at the every least take far more drastic chages than what we see here. since we could never have F-22 in large numbers.

There are more stealthy improvements than simply the missle bays. Published reports claim the head-on radar signature is about equal to the F-22!. As the story here highlights, there are also changes to coatings and vertical tail angles. The tail change effects lateral radar signature though, not head-on.
