True -- thats a standard variation. But Zakir is not doing that. He has taken 5 beats and divided them by 7 to create rupak. He plays the rupak 6 times in the same time as it would take to play jhaptal 3 times. Masterful!

@shoho0809 Exactly. Thats what the Master had done here. Its all about 'LayaKaari'. Basically its a Madhya laya Jhaaptaal (10 beats), which the master has been presenting in Drut Laya Roopak Taal (7 beats).

its not rupak its jhaptal zakir is such a big ustad that he can fit rupak into jhaptal
