  • its not rupak its jhaptal zakir is such a big ustad that he can fit rupak into jhaptal

Top Comments

  • True -- thats a standard variation. But Zakir is not doing that. He has taken 5 beats and divided them by 7 to create rupak. He plays the rupak 6 times in the same time as it would take to play jhaptal 3 times. Masterful!

  • The "other guy" is Shivkumar Sharma, one of the greatest masters of santoor.

  • @shoho0809 Exactly. Thats what the Master had done here. Its all about 'LayaKaari'. Basically its a Madhya laya Jhaaptaal (10 beats), which the master has been presenting in Drut Laya Roopak Taal (7 beats).

  • @vishnu4utube Just wondering, if u have dhi na dhidhi na ti na dhidhi na (So join the two Dhi's up to make 8 beat kherva). I gave it a go to see how it sounds.

  • X C LENT.. BUT THIS IS NOT JHAPTAAL IT IS RUPAK TAAL OF 7 BEATS.

  • what a gr8 layakari

  • @shivpreet10 what confusion? why wldnt u say he played 4 rupaaks in 1 jhaap when he playes the fast rela.

  • they're both rocking the same hairstyle

  • @KumarTabla

Roopak - 7 beats - ti ti na dhi na dhi na

Jhaptaal - 10 beats - dhi na dhi dhi na ti na dhi dhi na

    Thanks,

    Vishnu
