River Otters

Filmed at White Pines Lake near Arnold, California on January 3, 2010. This a was a family of 5 river otters.

I used a Canon 5D M2 camera with a 400mm lens plus a 1.4 converter making it a 560mm lens. The video is shaky in some clips due to using a very light weight Gitzo tripod and a Ultimate ball head which is terrible for panning video.

The periodic clicks you here are from the ability of the Canon 5D Mk2 to allow me take stills and interrupt the video momentarily.

WOO HOO the otters are back!! The kids and I are going to run by White Pines tomorrow and see if we can catch a glimpse!! The video is FANTASTIC... thanks for sharing, Dave!

Go around 2:30-3:00 and check out the ice on the lake near the picnic area. It looks like they are diving for crayfish in that area.

Very, very cute. Just this weekend (MLK) they (or a different family) were at Lakemont Pines Lake having a feast! ( Are those two lakes connected?)
