Through candid interviews and unprecedented backstage access, this documentary explores the world of the working comedian and reveals a funny psychological profile of its practitioners. We witness a retired comic attempt to get back on stage after a thirteen-year absence. In the 80s, Ritch Shydner was at the top of his game, with HBO specials and late night appearances. But the game has moved on. Can he connect with todays young crowds and still get the laughs? In the end, we learn what it takes to be a successful comic and why they must do it.
