The term "Claymotion" is really loose, it's hard to pin down an exact definition on it. I consider claymotion a type of juggling that use start/stop motions or multiplexes, and emphasize movement. It's just a personal preference I think. :)

i cant help it....
i get the impression that claymotion is for 4 or more balls. the basic claymotion patterns with 3 balls just look too simple. maybe its because i now practise 5 ball split multiplex using claymotion throws and catches, and then some of the 3-ball patterns just look like less than half of that pattern.

It's definitely a personal preference. I've had some people say they think 3 ball claymotion is very boring and too simple (like you), but I've had others say that they prefer the look of the 3 ball patterns, because they are more start/stop oriented. It just depends on the person :)
