South Australian News Fail

It all started out when I decided to film out of the car window at the traffic lights, i thought it was pretty cool because filming straight across made the car look so much faster than it was really going. When I got home that night I decided to add some sound effects to it so i could see how real it looked. After I had finished I decided to upload it to YouTube. What I was to find 4 days later was to shock me. A comment telling me that I had made the news on AdelaideNow. When I saw this I knew that the video would be in an article in The Advertiser. So the next day i woke up to a text message telling me that my video was being talked about on the radio, I also went out and found that the video had a FULL PAGE article on page 4 of the advertiser. The video DOMINATED 5AA news headlines from 7am until the afternoon, it was the topic of the day and was on the news updates every 30 minutes. At about 1pm Channel 10 contacted me asking me to call into the newsroom to comment on the video, I kindly rejected the offer instead choosing to send a message back instead of calling them. When i was contacted by channel 10 i was not 100% sure if it was a real channel 10 employee therefore i did not know if the story would be on the 5pm news. Surely enough it was and my comments about the video and media hype were also on the news. Not only did the video make channel 10 news it made channel 9 and channel 7 news. I still find it hard to believe that they have splashed the face of an "evil hoon" driver all over the news and made false accusations about him being a hoon and a drag racer. The truth being the video's audio was dubbed. I thought it would be fairly obvious... But obviously the adults in todays society are not up to date with technology. To those who work at the Christies Beach Police station, at least they had some sort of sense as to know chances are the video was a FAKE unlike the media boys who went clueless on the matter.

Sorry for the long response time i've been away for quite a while, and havent been able to access my account. The news never actually knew who we were, they knew my youtube account but i swiftly changed my contact details and name once the media launched the story. The police launched an investigation into it ending up hitting a dead end, so 2 days later me and my brother went into the station and told them the story, they thought it was ridiculous at first but eventually came to believe us.
