Hey guys, it's been a while!

Well, this is it. This is the piece that made me decide to buy the Kingdom Hearts Piano Collections. This is the hardest song I've learned to play all the way through, considering the incredibly odd/difficult technique in the left hand, and both hands at the very end. This is also one of my favorite pieces that I've learned to play. The emotion in the song is so powerful, that every time I play it I can feel the emotions flowing through me, and by the end, I feel absolutely exhausted. It's a wonderful sensation to say the least.
I was originally going to record this on the electric because whenever I perform a piece, it's usually not as good as when I play in private. However, this run wasn't half bad. Plus, the Steinway I was playing on sounded absolutely divine.
Hope you enjoy!

  • this is a fine attempt. 1. congratulations on attacking this work. I think you should slow it WAYYYYY down and spend some quality time with a metronome. buy it dinner, take it to a movie, show it some love and it'll love you back. You should be working on getting this thing completely memorized to a level where you can call a measure number at random and jump right in with either hands separate or together. once you have it under control work on your pacing, dynamic control and phrasing. bravo.

  • @cem1891 Wow, now that's what I call constructive criticism! Hah. This performance was waaay too fast, I normally don't play it like that, so there are some mistakes that I don't normally make. But I probably should slow it down and work on fine-tuning it to perfection.

    Thanks! :)

  • Nice job!! I can't believe you chose to play this at a recital - it's SOOO easy to screw up, no matter how many times you practice. Especially that bloody left hand. Urghh that blood left hand *shakes fist at sheet music*.

  • @cdsayitaintso Thanks! :)

I actually didn't have too much trouble with the left hand. At first I did, but I started going through the arpeggios in my book of finger exercises. I do miss quite a bit, simply because accuracy isn't exactly my thing, but memorizing where they go and how they fit together wasn't all that bad.

I was pretty terrified the week before this though. I lost a couple of the chords, every time I played it I missed the same chords. Let's just say that made me panic a bit, lol.

  • @unusualcatperson no worries. i just don't think acting like a lot of the 'backseat pianists' on you tube that just want to bash to no end behind the anonymous cloak of the internet does anything to help you. i think there are moments where you have a nice full powerful sound and you obviously connect with the piece but make it musical first. live performance mistakes here and there aren't such a huge deal if musical. just practice slowlly and make small incremental changes in tempo bit by bit.

  • @Arrow9100kj Hah, thanks :)

  • @unusualcatperson Haha. But kudos to you man, its a pretty ballsy move to play this at a recital O.o!!

  • @Arrow9100kj Thanks a lot :) And I agree, there was a bit too much pedal. Probably nerves, hah.

  • VERY NICE!!! A bit too much pedal but niceeeeeee! Takes tremendous skill to play it so Im not criticising.

  • @robbieee69 Thanks :)
