@alexat602 Nah, no way! Dental hygienists do most of the work! Whenever I go to the dentist every 6 months, I see the dental hygienist for about 30 minutes and only the dentist for 2 minutes. The dentist and dental hygienist do different jobs. Dental hygienists definitely aren't like a dentist's secretary. :)

@ThEgHoSt03130 Yeah, it'd be a great career for a male! Or you could also become a dentist if you wanted. But becoming a dental hygienist would be great. If it's what you want to do -- do it!

im planning on persuing a career as a dental hygienist. is it a good or bad career? Im worried that I might not be able to find a job, yet in the univeristy brochures, they say that the industry is in high demand for these people.

I am a Male Hygienist, in California and have been for 9 yrs. I graduated with another one other male but there were 3 males in the class that followed. I hope that this helps.
