I know that it would be much easier for me (today) to accept if one (or more) of my 4 children came home to say they where gay, than to accept they embraced islam, or was seeing a muslim man (or woman).
Ok, it makes me intolerant. But I don't care.
It would mean a personal defeat to me, if they did. I would probably not accept they turning muslim, at all.

I can relate to this, I had similar experiences, but I had more of an attitde, if they didn't like me for who I am, that was their problem, not mine. You will always come a cross people that are accepting and others that are not, that is with anything. I do like they way you present your thoughts and experiences and I think it will help those that watch this, that are struggling with their "coming out" issues.
I've been in a relationship for 17 years.
