Composites - Early Documentation

Processing, Arduino, Resolume, After Effects, and Projection.

Early documentation of my final thesis installation.

Video of figures standing, projected through mesh screens in a doorway, are seen speaking audio from a television signal and microphone. When approached, an ultrasonic distance sensor connected to an Arduino fades out the television and turns up the microphone. A servo connected to a remote control constantly cycles channels.

"Composites explores the compound nature of self defined identity through reactive audio / video installation and performative elements contributed by viewers / activators of the work. Related to ideas such as Judith Butler's concept of performativity, Composites attempts to create an environment that illustrates the ways in which one individuals concept of self, and whom they identify themselves to be, is actually an assemblage of innumerable outside influences, experiences, and reactionary responses."
