Those kids were sent in with old men to set off mines, that was the job of the Basij. They would clear the mines for the pasdaran. Terrible. If the old Imperial army was in place, Saddam would never have attacked. Saddam attacked Iran with support from the USSR and Warsaw Pact, and Cuba. The US did not assist Iraq until 1987 when the war got out of hand and Iran was supporting international terrorist groups openly.
