Okay just checked out the lyrics, apparently it was Coulter, but did he write it for the Fureys' father?

I'm always confused as to whether this was actually written by Phil Coulter or the Fureys? I heard it was phil, but don't they say they wrote it for their father?

I love this song, it's so emotional and I think John McDermott's voice is perfect for it. I love his lilt and expressive singing.

This man has a fine voice. I'm not sure it's the appropriate styling to fully deliver the emotion of this song.
Beautiful delivery of the melody,though, by both the singer and the orchestra...
