I opened for Jonathan Kozol with this song at the Save Our Schools Rally in Washington DC on July 30, 2011. This was the first time teachers and parents have come together to protest the over-testing, under funding and the privatizing of American public schools, brought on by the No Child Left Behind law, and its extension, Race to the Top. The World is flat, there is no top. Repeal this destructive law. Tear down these walls and lets build real schools.

  • It depends what you mean by results, which are often fudged by choosing their students. Charter schools in general have the same exact results as public schools. Private schools pay their teachers much less and have hand picked students. They always seem to do well, but so do many public schools. They just never make the evening news.

  • If public schools are underfunded, how are their private counterparts able to deliver equal results with less money?
