  • Dude, this sketch is one of my favorites, its got the best jokes

    - This firm last year made a complete profit of a shilling.

    - A shilling, Wilkins?

    - Uh roughly yes sir.

    - Wilnkins, I'm the Chairman of a multi million pound corporation and you are a very new chartered accountant. Isn't it possible that theres been some mistake?

    - Well, that's very kind of you sir, but I don't think I'm ready to be chairman yet.

    - Wilkins, this shilling, is it net or gross?

    - It's British sir.

    Cracks me up

  • 'Fivepence of a further sixpence?'

    'Thats right, sir.'

'Then where is the other penny?'

    'I....I....I *unknown word*ed it sir!'

    ???

  • @hazworther Embezzle. He embezzled it. He stole it, took it from the company without authorization.

  • Oh, you're no fun anymore >:(

  • What was that direction again?

  • @sarcee1960 In 1969, a pound was worth about $2.40. In the pre-decimal British currency, there were twelve pence to a shilling and twenty shillings to a pound. So a shilling is worth about 12 cents. British pence were roughly equal in value to US cents. Nowadays the pound is decimal, so there are just 100 pence to a pound, and no shillings.

  • Wilkins is a terrible liar.

  • @sarcee1960 A shilling became 5 new pence when the UK went metric,

  • Leave your radio on during the night.

  • you naughty person!

  • @sarcee1960 I believe it is a very small amount---possibly less than a cent, though I very well may be wrong. I myself am American.

  • What was a shilling worth? What is the US equivalent?

  • Like if you just saw camel spotting before this!
