WFP's Christopher Rompre spends an hour in one of Phnom Penh's central food markets, seeing what he can buy for one dollar. He says one in three people in Cambodia lives on a dollar (or 4,000 riel) a day.

I haven't been there for 29 years I go when I hit the lotto and not my first destination. Only going back for fresh durane and meet some of my relatives.

@steveUKok I totally agree with you. Although for $1.00 US he got way more for his money than he would've in the States. Street meat in NY is at least $2.00.

He's a tourist, he's not getting the local price. A fair experiment would be ask a local to make the purchases.

I felt it was more expensive in cambodia then the US and the things they sell are fake. i can buy things cheaper in thailand and they have the prices on everything. even food cost less in thailand. i dont like to get ripped off and i would not want to go back either.
