@Britcomsarebest You're quite right. Ove Sprogøe was a fantastic comical talent. This "cover" of Cigarettes, Whusky and Wild Wild Women was translated into Danish by Poul Henningsen (PH) the Genius behind the PH lamps, and also an author, satirist, critic and coloumnist, who was widely unpopular because of his very liberal and free-sprited mindset. The translation was done with Ove Sprogøe in mind because he was thought by PH to be the only one who could pull it off.

@svender54 Arhhhhh, han nåede desværre kun at blive 84 og lidt mere :( Men Albertslund kommune ændrede Vridsløselille Statsfængsel vej til Egon Olsens vej på hans 85 år :) og Odense har opkaldt en plads (Ove Sprogøes plads) efter ham :)

@PenttiLinkola23 Det har nok nærmere været i 60'erne, da der er en reference til præsident Johnson og Fidel Castro.
I cannot believe this: The American English song called 'Cigarettes, Whusky and Wild, Wild Women' a hillbilly song sung in 1948 by Red Ingle who used to be with Spike Jones & his City Slickers and translated (I presume) and sung in Danish by none other than the man I remember as Egon Olsen. I really like it!

Den største og mest folkekære skuespiller i Danmarks historie. Ove vil aldrig blive glemt! Han er skrevet i vore danske historiebøger, og vil altid bo i vore hjerter! :o) Hvil i fred min ven!
