Law that support cruelty should never be obeyed. There was a time when dark colored humans stolen from Africa and it was legal to own them, whip them, etc. Also think of the laws in Nazi Germany. Law are often unjust. The laws need changing as does our view of other species as less than.

im all for animal rights but across the world we have human beings living in poverty, being tortured, opressed etc. to be blunt a rabbit isnt worth as much as a palestinian child or a burmese political activist, plus the majority of these individuals tend to be from liberal middle class backgrounds, you want to fight against cruelty start by changing the system of government. tighter internal security would be a help too
