Pianist and psychiatrist Dr. Richard Kogan delivers presentation entitled "Musical Creativity and Mental Illness" at Music and the Brain Symposium - Cleveland Clinic Art and Medicine Institute
Fine performance. He reflects the ardent passion of the text in the first exposition. Many performers tend to interpret this section too lyrically and sweetly. He is also one of the few who build to the forte ending as written.
Have heard many interpretations of this piece. For me, this one is excellent.
Most often it is so "overdone" & the piece becomes syrupy sweet, trite.
Check out the doctor's Gershwin/Wild "Summertime." Beautiful, as well.
