1 in 7 Americans Poor: How did this Happen?

A new report showing high poverty rates makes the US seem more like a third-world nightmare. The US poverty rate has skyrocketed under the Obama administration with one in seven Americans considered poor in 2009. Atlantic's Derek Thompson explains that a lot of welfare programs are in place, but people are opposed to the government creating anymore.

@invisibleisolation ...I could then add that a good few Russian planes are BANNED from Europe because of poor maintenence/safety concerns, ie lack cash. @invisibleisolation My post was to point out the fact that RT full on anti US and anti Western propaganda. The inflamatory 'headlines' are written incite paranoia/trouble in the country they target.  RT, finds a large US audience since many don't know/care that this shit is produced by a country/ ex sworn enemy with specialist skills in propaganda, honed from decades suppression of their own people. @invisibleisolation Russia is rich as hell? life expectancy on average is significantly greater in the US. I would have taken a good look round, did you not see the poverty? or were you on a package tour? Russia is a huge place. The US media is NOT the only source of information, why do so many people refer to that?
