  • franceskt is mostly right but Joy Marshall actually died in the 60s. She was my aunt by marriage (Peter King is my uncle) and they married in 1962.

  • Joy was US born but lived and worked in the UK. Toast was a UK label.

Joy moved between the R&B world and the London modern jazz scene in the 1950s and died from an accidental drug overdose in the late 1950s.

She was married to UK jazzman Peter King and was later the girl friend of star saxophonist Tubby Hayes.

She only made a handful of singles mainly for Decca and 1 lp also for Decca.

  • Anyone know is/was Joy based in Los Angeles or the UK? and was this pressed on a US label? like this record... right on the edge of being terrible, but succeeds in sounding great~ Nice XO sound!

  • Fantastic x

  • Very silky smooth nice post

  • Soft melody!
