Clearly you didn't pay any attention to what I wrote, because no where in my comment did I imply that 2012 was the 'end of the world'. Perhaps you should take the time to fully understand what someone has said before you throw up that timeless dick-headed persona that is so popular on this website. If you want to really bring history into the equation here, the Sumerians made a similar prediction in regards to 2012, specifically the return of the Anunnaki. My comment was not discussing Mayans

In all honesty I would not be at all surprised if humans were an engineered race, given the fact that our DNA is supposedly very similar to apes, but at the same time vastly different. However, recent genetic research is starting to show how mutations in our genes could certainly cause our appearance an intelligence. It's a long standing debate between, 'God' led creationism, Extra-terrestrial creationism, or evolution. Since we'll never know for sure, all we can do is wait for 2k12 and see.
