No, the Tom & Jerry episode was released 40 years earlier, in 1947. The pianist heard in the cartoon is probably either Shura Cherkassky or Jacob Gimpel. They were friends and competitors. Gimpel's son has launched a theory saying that Cherkassky, having been denied by Warner Bros to play the sound track for Bugs&Bunny, actually may have stolen the whole film idea and induced MGM to make a similar cartoon (Tom&Jerry) so he could play the sound track for them instead. True or false? Who knows.
