Starting on sundown August 5, 2010, Ray Lutz started a hunger strike in an attempt to get Duncan D. Hunter to respond to requests to a schedule of debates, originally designed for the legislative holiday during August and September. The Hunter campaign refused to respond to those requests. Then, on August 20, 2010, Lutz confronted Hunter at the Politics in Paradise event. At that time, Hunter said he would answer the letter Lutz gave him, and that they would have a series of townhalls scheduled that we could participate in.
The Hunter campaign did not respond to that letter, nor were any townhalls scheduled. At this Republican Womens event, Hunter was scheduled to show up and so Lutz decided to confront him about breaking his promise to respond to our August 20 letter. Hunter refused to interact with Lutz and did not take the letter, although the letter was left with staff at the entrance to the event after a great deal of arm twisting.
Days after this event, we received a terse letter that stated that Hunter would be at the October 15th debate.
I was told by Janet Gastil, who ran against Duncan Lee Hunter, the father, that he was the incumbent and still agreed to a series of five debates. It is clear that Duncan D. Hunter (the son) does not want people to know he is not his father.
ya like he's really going to answer when he's whistling like an asshole.
