is that the only way to complete the quest? cause it took me ages to get up to here but im no where near level 50 (and no lab coat) =(

You don't have to follow the main quest right from the start. You can do other things in the game, before you go to Galaxy News Radio. None of the quests have time limits. You can take your time, talk to people, and do other quests. I always do the Moira Quests first. And i do the Grayditch, the Arefu and the Rivet City quests. I'm big and strong with a lot of weapons and friends even before i meet up with Three Dog :).

It's Lesko's lab coat. It's a reward from the Grayditch quest where you meet the doc there after the town is overrun by fire ants. It adds quite a boost to the science skill.
